Sony is rumored to announce a new FE 24-70mm f/2 GM lens. Here are the rumored details of this lens:

- Not suitable for videos as it does not have image stabilization and is not parfocal
- Excellent in correcting peripheral light falloff in the four corners and chromatic aberration, high resolution in the center of the screen, eliminating spherical aberration
Canon’s RF28-70mm F2 sells for more than $2,700, so it is expected that the Sony FE 24-70mm F2 GM will cost more than $3,000.
The veracity of the rumors is unknown, but it seems like it would be quite challenging for Sony to widen the wide-angle end to 24mm and reduce the weight to 1145g, compared to the Canon RF28-70mm F2’s weight of 1430g.
Also, it is described as a soft lens that retains spherical aberration, but if this is true, it is a lens that is quite different from Sony’s previous GM lenses, which have high resolution and are sharp.
It is very rare for lenses these days to have a design that is not suitable for movies, and if the rumors are true, the FE 24-70mm F2 GM is likely to be a very unique lens with soft rendering for stills.

According to foreign media SAR, Sony may hold a new product launch event on April 16th/17th (time difference). It has been confirmed that the new product to be released on that day is the FE 16-25mm F2.8 G lens.

Foreign media believes that it would be strange if Sony only releases the FE 16-25mm F2.8 G lens, and they are looking forward to other new products being released at the same time. They hope that the FE 24-70mm F2.0 GM lens can also be released simultaneously.
